How to Play Anomaly Cafe

What you are signing up for

[NEW] Anomaly Cafe puts you to work at Emma’s Cafe, a Roblox alpha experience where hospitality and horror share the same floor plan. You and up to 23 teammates (24 players max) take orders, keep the café presentable, and stay alert for anomalies—wrong details, wrong sounds, wrong people—that appear when the shift feels almost normal.

This is online co-op, still in alpha, with updates roughly every two weeks. Expect bugs, incomplete systems, and sudden design changes. Report issues through the developer community; do not assume a polished retail build.

The core loop (memorize this)

Every successful session repeats three layers:

  1. Serve — Read customer intent, prepare the right items, deliver promptly, and reset the station.
  2. Maintain — Clear mess, restore props, keep pathways open so runners are not blocked during emergencies.
  3. Spot / survive — Continuously compare the café against a mental baseline; when something breaks that baseline, call it and respond as a team.

If you only grind recipes and ignore the room, anomalies punish you. If you only ghost-hunt and ignore customers, the café fails the mundane half of the fantasy. Balance is the skill.

First 10 minutes checklist

Skip code hunting—there are no confirmed active codes yet.

How a normal rush should feel

During a stable stretch, your attention budget looks like this:

  • 60% order accuracy and ticket timing
  • 25% environment baseline checks (posters, lights, furniture, NPC behavior)
  • 15% teammate audio / chat for short callouts

When someone calls a possible anomaly, temporarily invert that budget: freeze non-critical prep, confirm the tell, and execute the survival plan from Survive Anomalies. Then resume service without letting tickets pile into a second crisis.

Anomaly mindset for beginners

Anomalies are not always jump-scare mascots standing in the doorway. Early tells are often small:

  • A prop facing the wrong way
  • Music that layers incorrectly
  • A customer who breaks the usual pathing
  • Lighting that feels “one notch off”

Train recognition in Spot Anomalies and compare severity later with Danger Tier. For what to practice first night, use Beginner Priority.

Controls and comfort settings

Read Controls once, then customize camera sensitivity so you can whip-check corners without nausea. On mobile, keep UI scale readable; missing a ticket because you cannot see icons is an unforced error.

Alpha etiquette

  • Do not harass teammates for dying to unfinished AI.
  • Record weird repro steps for Known Bugs.
  • After patches, re-learn one system at a time via Alpha Patch Notes.
  • Never install random “Anomaly Cafe scripts”—none are verified as game-specific yet (Scripts Hub).

Common beginner mistakes

  1. Tunnel vision on the counter — You serve perfectly while a wrong painting stares for three minutes.
  2. Scream callouts — Long voice essays waste time; use object + place + confidence.
  3. Splitting into 24 solo agents — Large lobbies need role discipline more than small ones.
  4. Chasing the wrong wiki — Ignore Spuddy’s / Animal Hospital / Shizuka’s / Steam Horubrain guides.
  5. Assuming codes will save a bad shift — They will not; the list is empty for a reason.

Session goals by experience level

  • Night 1: Finish a shift without total café collapse; land five clean deliveries; make one correct anomaly call.
  • Night 2–3: Hold roles under pressure; reduce false alarms; keep pathways clear.
  • Regulars: Teach newcomers, track patch deltas, refine the Shift Checklist.

Where to go next

Clock in, keep the coffee honest, and question the room when it smiles too wide.

First-session script you can read aloud

“We serve, we tidy, we watch the room. Soft call weird stuff with a place name. Nobody goes alone to check the back. No code hunting tonight. After the shift we will skim patch notes if an update dropped.” That speech plus links to Spot Anomalies and Co-op Tips outperforms a chaotic unguided dump into a full server.
