Anomaly Cafe markets original characters, custom music, and a café identity built around Emma’s Cafe. You do not need every spoiler to play well—but you do need a stable sense of who belongs on the floor. When the cast breaks its own rules, that is often your anomaly cue.

Emma’s Cafe as a character

Treat the café itself like a lead:

• Tone: hospitality first, dread second
• Fantasy: work shift + wrongness
• Social promise: team up with friends, max 24 players

Staff, guests, and “helpful” faces

During a shift you will parse three social buckets:

1. Teammate avatars — Real players; use Co-op Tips contracts.

3. Story-facing characters — Higher signal when they appear in the wrong zone or mood.

Roleplay vs survival

Roleplaying barista chatter is fun until it hides a callout. House rule suggestion: RP is allowed on green status; during yellow/red anomaly status, only mechanical callouts. That single rule saves friendships.

• After a rush, name one guest behavior that stayed consistent.

Spoiler etiquette for mixed lobbies

Some players want story surprises; others want mechanical clarity. Default to mechanical descriptions in public voice (“wrong silhouette in prep”) and save lore nicknames for after-action chat. That etiquette keeps Survive Anomalies callouts sharp without ruining atmosphere for friends who care about reveals.

Practice: wrong-face drill

Have a mentor move or describe a deliberate “wrong” placement during a private warm-up if your group roleplays training. Trainees must soft call with zone language before joking. The drill builds cast baseline muscles without waiting for a brutal public wipe to teach the lesson.
